STL County police officer arrested for DWI

A St. Louis County police officer was arrested and charged with DWI after driving off a road in Creve Coeur early Saturday.

Creve Coeur police stopped Katherine Simmons, 33, about 1:30 a.m. on Olive Boulevard near North Mosley Road.

She reportedly ran off the road and struck a street sign and a nearby tree. She was the only occupant of the car and was not injured.

She told police she was currently employed as a detective with the St. Louis County Police Department, Creve Coeur police said. Officers then determined she was intoxicated and arrested her for DWI. She was charged in Creve Coeur municipal court and released.

St. Louis County police confirmed an officer had been charged with DWI in Creve Coeur and said she had been suspended with pay.
