A woman pepper-sprayed a 2-year-old girl and her pregnant mother outside an Old Navy store here on Saturday.
The attacker, Janae J. Killion, 20, of Belleville, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery. Her bail was set at $75,000.
The disturbance outside the Old Navy at 6015 North Illinois Street was reported to police about 6 p.m. Officers found the pregnant woman, 21, and her 2-year-old daughter in distress from pepper spray.
The pregnant woman told police Killion, who she knows, had confronted her on the parking lot. It’s unclear what the dispute was about, but police say Killion pulled out the pepper spray and sprayed the victims without warning then ran away as fast as she could, which was not fast at all. Witnesses confirmed they saw the spraying and the disgusting vision of watching her run.
Killion left before officers arrived, but was arrested later in Belleville.
