A teacher at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) was arrested after allegedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old he met on a social media dating app.

Police pulled over Richard Ives, 48, after a gray Chevrolet Malibu. When he pulled over Ives he noticed a 14-year-old in the front seat of the vehicle. When the deputy asked the 14-year-old for his identification, he said he was Ives’ nephew but provided no further identification.

The deputy said he asked Ives to exit the vehicle and then questioned him about where he was with the juvenile. The suspect told the deputy he took the juvenile to a commuter lot and began kissing him. While they were kissing other sexual contact was made.

The deputy then contacted the juvenile’s mother. When the mother arrived, the juvenile told the officer he met Ives on “Grinder,” a social media dating app. The juvenile then said Ives had picked him up and they went to the commuter lot to talk, during which sexual contact was made.

The juvenile said that Ives gave him $200 after they left the commuter lot.

Ives has been charged with enticement of a child, patronizing prostitution 14 years of age and younger, sexual misconduct of a child under 14 and second-degree statutory sodomy. His bond was set at $50,000, which he posted overnight.
