Daniel Runnoe, 24, a Hazelwood man was drinking while “practicing tactical maneuvers” with a handgun at home when it fired, and hit and killed his brother.

He was charged Tuesday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with first-degree involuntary manslaughter.

Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall said Runnoe was showing the maneuvers to his 29-year-old brother, Allen Runnoe, when the gun discharged about 1 a.m., hitting the elder brother in the head.

“He and his brother were drunk, and (Daniel Runnoe) made a mistake,” Hall said.

Daniel Runnoe did not call police to report the shooting. Hours later, he called one of his parents who immediately called 911.

Daniel Runnoe was outside the apartment when officers arrived and cooperated with police, Hall said. Allen Runnoe was dead in the living room.

Daniel Runnoe was held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $50,000 bail.
