STL man burned baby boy in sink and caused severe brain injury

A STL man was charged Sunday with felony child abuse burned the skin off the right side of an 8-month-old boy and caused other severe injuries to the child’s brain.

Anthony Patrick Jr., 26, of the 2400 block of Menard Street, was charged with one count of felony child abuse or neglect causing serious injury.

Cops were called to Cardinal Glennon on Friday to investigate a severe burn to the child. Patrick told police that the child was burned by putting him in a sink of hot water.

Doctors found a severe brain injury requiring surgery, lacerations to the boy’s liver and a blood clot near the child’s kidneys.  Doctors told police the child’s injuries were not accidental.

Patrick’s bail was set at $250,000 cash.
