Karaoke Fight turns into Gunfire at STL lounge

What started with singing of the beautiful and heartfelt song that has touched all of our hearts: the Whitney Houston song “I will always love you” ended with gunfire and felony charges.

Police told us this took place at the City Magic cocktail lounge, 4955 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, and the arguing began over karaoke shortly after midnight Thursday.

Lamonda D. Williams started arguing with some of her friends about karaoke about 12:50 a.m. The specifics of the spat aren’t clear, but there was Crown Royal involved and someone allegedly said the words “Bobby Brown made Whitney.” Which are fighting words for anyone who has seen the film, The Bodyguard.  The fight spilled outside where Williams threw a drink at someone’s car, ironically a Bobby Brown move.

Williams grabbed something from her own car, approached a woman, fired a shot in the air and another one at her but missed. Williams then took off in her car; another woman took off after her, then tried to pass her. Williams then fired two more shots into the woman’s trunk.

Officers recovered two .45-caliber rounds from the woman’s trunk and later found Williams with a .45 caliber pistol in her vehicle, charges say.

Williams was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. She was jailed on a $55,000 cash-only bail.
