Dum Dum stealing guns from police cars around St. Louis

A STl dum dum was charged Friday with breaking into police cars and stealing weapons inside.

Joshua Pollard, 19, of the 6100 block of Lucille Avenue was charged with two counts of stealing a firearm, three counts of property damage in the first degree and receiving stolen property.

Two St. Louis County police officers reported that their marked police cars had been forcibly entered through broken windows and two department-issued guns had been stolen from each car. N another incident, St. Louis city officer reported that his marked police car had been forcibly entered through a broken window.

Police investigating unrelated car thefts spoke to a witness who ratted on Pollard and said he was responsible for stealing guns from police cars. Police went to Pollard’s residence and were given permission to search the home by Pollard’s relatives. Police located three of four guns that were stolen from the St. Louis County police officers. Pollard was arrested at his place of work.

Pollard confessed to stealing the four guns from the police cars after breaking into the vehicles. When arrested, Pollard was in possession of a .40-caliber Glock that had been reported stolen from St. Charles County. Pollard confessed to stealing that gun from a car in St. Charles.

He is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center in lieu of $75,000 cash-only bail.
