Woman carjacked outside her Home

A carjacking suspect has been charged after leading police on a crazy car chase late last night.

Damarcus Barnett, 18, is charged with robbery in the first degree, armed criminal action and resisting arrest. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Around 8:40 p.m., a woman had a gun pulled on her after she returned home in the 10000 block of Neville Walk in her car.

Around three hours later, officers from the City of Jennings Precinct saw the carjacked vehicle in the 9000 block of Riverview Drive and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop, obviously, but instead sped away, at which time a pursuit began.

The pursuit ended when the carjacked vehicle hit a brick wall near the East Grand Avenue and Highway 70 eastbound ramp intersection. After the crash, Barnett tried to run from officers but was arrested. He later admitted to his crime.
